Kayaking in Havelock Island: Trips, Prices and Tips for 2026

Kayaking in Havelock Island is easy for beginners and does not need swimming. You can choose from three trips: bioluminescence kayaking before dawn for ₹2,500, sunrise kayaking for ₹2,000 and sunset kayaking for ₹2,000. These prices are per person and inclusive of GST. The guide, life jacket and pickup within 5 km are all included.

Why Havelock is good for kayaking

Havelock, now officially called Swaraj Dweep, is one of the most popular islands in the Andamans. Most people still call it Havelock. For kayaking, it has a few clear advantages:

  • Calm water near the shore. On most days in the season, the water close to the coast is calm and good for first-timers.
  • Bioluminescence. On dark nights, the sea around Havelock can glow blue when you move the water.
  • Sunrise and sunset. You can watch the sun come up or go down from the water, with no crowd around you.
  • Easy to reach. Ferries run from Port Blair to Havelock, so it fits into most Andaman trips.

Kayaking trips on Havelock

Bioluminescence kayaking

This trip runs in the darkest hours before dawn, around 3 to 5 AM, and lasts 1.5 to 2 hours. Tiny plankton in the sea give off blue light when the water moves, so your paddle can leave a glowing trail. The glow is best on dark, low-moon nights, and November to February is the best season. It is never guaranteed, because nature decides how bright it is. Check the moon calendar before you book, and read more on the bioluminescence kayaking page.

Sunrise kayaking

You meet the guide about 30 minutes before sunrise, paddle out in the soft early light, and watch the sun rise over the sea. The trip lasts 2 to 2.5 hours. It is a good choice if you want a calm morning on the water without a 3 AM start. See the sunrise kayaking page.

Sunset kayaking

An easy evening paddle while the sky changes colour. It lasts 1.5 to 2 hours. It suits couples, families with children, and anyone who is not a morning person. See the sunset kayaking page.

Mangrove kayaking and night kayaking

These two trips are on request only right now. Message us to check if we can run them on your dates. You can read about them on the mangrove kayaking and night kayaking pages.

Havelock or Neil for kayaking?
